Abstract
In this paper three examples of new liquid crystalline compounds with azamacrocyclic cores are described. Apart from a substituted hexacyclene with twelve alkoxy sidechains, two triazacrownether derivatives are presented. Their discotic molecular shape causes mesomorphic behaviour, which is characterized by means of DSC-measurements and polarizing microscopy. Water absorption from air can slightly modify the transition temperatures. The triazamacrocyclic derivatives exhibit a strongly hindered recrystallization; their glass transition temperatures are above room temperature.
