Bivariate symmetry: definitions and basic properties

Abstract

New concepts of bivariate symmetry are introduced in this investigation and its basic properties are presented. Examples of distributions satisfying our conditions are given. The definitions we propose have the desirable property of reducing to univariate symmetry, when coordinates are independent.
