ABSTRACT

Asystasia gangetica leaves were extracted sequentially with different solvent systems. The quantitative estimation of secondary metabolites along with antioxidant activities were evaluated. Methanol extract had the highest phenolics (12.82 mg of GAE g−1 DW), condensed tannins (13.81 mg of GAE g−1 DW), saponin (10.71 mg of DE g−1 DW) content along with highest DPPH radical (IC50 of 62.40 μg mL−1), ABTS radical (22.70 μg mL−1) scavenging activity, and CUPRAC (65.86 TE g−1 DW) total antioxidant activity. The mild antimitotic and antiproliferative effects of extracts suggest low toxicity. The extracts demonstrated potential in vitro anti-inflammatory activity. Polyphenols, including novel Isovitexin, Genestin, Syringic acid, and Caffeic acid were the major metabolites identified.
