A train of thought: 25 years of Psychotherapy Research

Abstract

This paper serves as an introduction to the 25th anniversary issue of Psychotherapy Research. It includes a consideration of the original aims of the journal in light of the most cited articles, various developments in research orientation and methodology, and most recent publications. It demonstrates both diversity and consistency in content over time, as well as the international reach of the journal.

Zusammenfassung

Ziel: Dieses Paper fungiert als Einführung zur 25. Jahresausgabe des Psychotherapie Research. Es beinhaltet eine Betrachtung der ursprünglichen Ziele der Zeitschrift im Lichte der am meisten zitierten Artikel, diverser Entwicklungen der Forschungsrichtung und Methodik sowie der aktuellsten Publikationen. Es demonstriert Diversität aber auch Konsistenz im Inhalt über die Zeit und verdeutlicht gleichzeitig die internationale Tragweite der Zeitschrift.

Este artigo serve como introdução à edição do número do 25º aniversário da Psychotherapy Research. Inclui uma apreciação sobre os objetivos originais da revista à luz dos artigos mais citados, dos vários desenvolvimentos na orientação e metodologia de investigação, e das mais recentes publicações. Demonstra tanto a diversidade como a consistência do conteúdo ao longo do tempo, bem como o alcance internacional da revista.
