Robert Shail is Head of the Department of Film and Media at the University of Wales, Lampeter where he also lectures in film studies. He has published work on various aspects of British cinema history, as well as on masculinity and film stardom. His most recent publication is British Film Directors: A Critical Guide (Edinburgh University Press, 2007).
