The Greek rhetoricians on deistic reference

Deistic reference (allusion to Deity and religion) is a rhetorical device which not only is widely employed today but also was frequently used by ancient Greek orators. Of pertinent interest to such usage are the theoretical precepts expounded by the Greek rhetoricians. Although not extensive in quantity, these precepts are valuable aids in understanding both Greek culture and oratorical practice.
