Performance as knowing and knowing performance

Four areas in which scholarship in oral interpretation should concentrate include: (1) the effects of performance on both reader and audience, (2) performance in non‐academic contexts, (3) the functions of nondramatic performance, and (4) the history of performed literature. Specific questions related to each area are raised.
