Abstract
Higher education is exploding with the use of computers to aid the teaching and understanding of course material. As more emphasis is placed on teaching from outside forces, faculty look for ways to increase the learning and retention rate of students, to increase the quality of interaction between student and teacher and to tap new resources that were previously unavailable. The Internet can extend communication outside the university and allow interaction of global proportions. Recent innovations allow interaction with virtual guest lecturers and electronic conferences where many interact from around the world. The best teachers, the latest research and much more information can now be accessed from any university, bringing academe into any classroom anywhere.
