Abstract

The most widely used method for simulating theaccumulation of organic chemicals in fish consists in correlating laboratory bioconcentration factors (log BCF) and n -octanol/water partition coefficients (log P). On this basis, five different logBCF/log P models werecompared toestimatetheir domain of application and flexibility for integrating abiotic and biotic constraints. This comparison was performed from a data set of 802 experimental BCF values recorded for 290 chemicals. Theresults clearly showed important differences among thestudied models.
