Abstract

At the current ITER design phase a possibility of liquid alkali metal application as coolants for cooling systems of some thermally stressed facility components is considered. Application of liquid metals in ITER poses a problem of their activation in the neutron field. Activity and radionuclide composition of the fusion neutron irradiated coolant determined radiation safety by work with it.

The published and estimation data on element composition of some liquid metal coolants are used in this paper to compute their neutron activation in the ITER condition.
