Abstract
It has different names; in health care it is referred to as family centered, in mental health, family driven, and in social work, relationship based. Regardless of the name, all of these concepts share the same core principle that professionals intentionally partner with families: seeking family input, viewing the family as the primary expert on the child, and responding to family concerns in a strengths-based manner that incorporates the philosophical, cultural, and unique needs of the family and individual.
