Abstract
The Russian gaming industry has quickly grown to a $6 billion industry and the opportunity to gamble has spread significantly beyond the borders of its two largest Russian cities: Moscow and St. Petersburg. In July 2009, a new gaming law is to go into effect that will basically eradicate all current gaming operations in all parts of the country and allow gambling in only four designated “gaming zones.” The purpose of the study was to describe the gaming industry in Russia and investigate the attitudes, perceptions, travel habits, and lifestyles of Russian gamblers.
