Abstract
Schoolsite health promotion programs started without a full appreciation of the size and complexity of the task may do more harm than good. We offer an overview of theories and practice recommendations to consider before beginning, and guidelines to help in-process. Included are perspectives drawn from research in community coalition building, public health science, innovation diffusion theory, and organizational development.
