Abstract

Wedelia paludosa is frequently employed in popular medicine to treat several diseases. This work describes a comparative study of different parts (stems, leaves, flowers and roots) of this plant. The results showed that kaurenoic acid, the main active compound present in this plant, is located in all parts, but it is more concentrated in roots and stems. Such results could be useful in the development of a suitable method of standardization of the extracts of this plant and their phytopreparations.
