Abstract

Submerged fermentations of the fungus Acremonium sp. strain HA33-95 yielded thiacremonone, a new sulphur-containing derivative that induces the differentiation of mammalian cells at 31 μM. The isolation, structure determination and biological activities of thiacremonone are described.
