Abstract

Reaction of 5-hydroxy or 5-acetoxy flavones with NaBH₄ in CF₃COOH provides zwitterionic boroflavylium complexes instead of expected reduction products. ¹H, ¹³C, ¹⁹F, ¹¹B NMR and mass spectrometry of these complexes are described.
