Abstract
Reaction of 5-hydroxy or 5-acetoxy flavones with NaBH4 in CF3COOH provides zwitterionic boroflavylium complexes instead of expected reduction products. 1H, 13C, 19F, 11B NMR and mass spectrometry of these complexes are described.
