Abstract

The mediterranean tunicate Aplydium sp. contains a new hydroxydiprenylhydroquinone 1 together with the known compound 2-[(2′E,6′E)-3′7′-dimethylocta-2′6′-dienyl]benzene-1,4-diol (2). The structure of 1 was elucidated by interpretation of spectral data. Both compounds showed significant cytotoxicity against four tumor cell lines, in particular, against P-388 mouse lymphoma suspension culture.
