Abstract

Continuing work on the bioactivity-directed fractionation of the ethanolic extracts of the leaves of Annona glabra has resulted in the discovery of previously known blumenol A (1). This is the first reported occurance of blumenol A from the Annonaceae family. Against human solid tumor cells, 1 was generally cytotoxic but not significantly potent. Its biogenesis is discussed.
