Business analytics maturity of firms: an examination of the relationships between managerial perception of IT, business analytics maturity and success

ABSTRACT

This study develops a measure for business analytics (BA) maturity and empirically examines the relationships between managerial perception of IT, BA maturity and BA success. The findings suggest that (1) BA maturity can be measured via BA integration & management support, process-level benefits of BA and technology & data analytics capabilities, (2) BA maturity positively affects organizations’ overall BA success, and (3) managerial perception of IT positively influence organizations’ achievement of BA maturity.

Leida Chen

Leida Chen, Ph.D. is Associate Professor of Information Systems at the Orfalea College of Business of California Polytechnic State University. His research and consulting interests include BA and data mining, electronic and mobile commerce, diffusion of IT in organizations, and global IT management. Dr. Chen has published over 50 professional articles in the area of BA and information technology in top-ranked IS journals.

Ravi Nath

Ravi Nath, Ph.D. is the Head of the Business Intelligence & Analytics (BIA) department and the holder of the Jack and Joan McGraw Endowed Chair in Information Technology Management in the Heider College of Business at Creighton University. Dr. Nath earned a Master’s degree from Wichita State University and a Ph.D. from Texas Tech University. He has been awarded Fulbright Scholarships twice: University of Zimbabwe (1992-1993) and the Polytechnic of Namibia (2012). Dr. Nath has published over 100 research articles in the area of BA and information technology in national and international journals.
