Conducting Information Systems Research in the Midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic: Opportunities and Challenges

ABSTRACT

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, as the world is migrating from physical to virtual in an unprecedented pace, information systems (IS) researchers endeavor to adapt their research agendas to the opportunities and challenges presented by the pandemic. The purpose of this article is to discuss these opportunities and challenges for IS research areas and methodologies, as well as to offer some thoughts about the current landscape of the research community.

Lior Fink

Lior Fink is an associate professor of information systems in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and economics, a master’s degree in social-industrial psychology, and a Ph.D. degree in information systems from Tel Aviv University. He held visiting positions at the UCLA Anderson School of Management and the Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, College Park. His research interests focus on economic and behavioral aspects of IT use. Lior has published extensively in information systems journals, including MIS Quarterly and Journal of the AIS.
