From the editor

Virtually everyone across the world has been impacted, both personally and professionally, by the COVID-19 pandemic originating from Wuhan, China. I hope you are well during these continuing coronavirus times, during which I especially appreciate your support of Information Systems Management. This last issue of volume 37 is a special issue on “The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Information Systems Management,” featuring opinion articles that I hope you find practically relevant and engaging in our quest to find IT solutions to challenges confronting society. As a journal which provides a platform for the ongoing exchange of academic research, best practices, and insights based on managerial experience, we hope this special issue, in particular, attains the goal of advancing the practice of information systems management through this exchange. Let us hope we can quickly seize this opportunity. Indeed, the pandemic is expected to accelerate the rate and pace of IT advances, forcing both individuals and organizations to adopt digital solutions (Wladawsky-Berger, Citation2020).

This special issue includes eighteen articles. Topics range from the acceleration of digital transformation of organizations, to remote work, to lessons for technology management and governance, to implications for practice and research, and more. We hope to present a global perspective in the articles. Our authors represent eight countries and a wide range of perspectives on ideas and insights that span a range of pressing issues in the management of information systems. We hope readers will find these articles intellectually intriguing, practically illuminating, and inspirational for their future research. As a result, we hope our research endeavors lead to success in our quest for digital solutions that benefit humanity as we contend with COVID-19, and beyond.

We wish all our readers, and their family and friends, good health and safety during these very challenging times. We are grateful for your continued support and more importantly your service during this disruptive pandemic.
