Abstract

The need to Induce a feeling of naturalness is a critical issue in user interface design. Workstations have improved the level of interaction with the user to the event level, so that computers are now more responsive. Non-keyboard interfaces—pen-based computers and systems that recognize voice, handwriting, and gestures that substitute for keystroke commands—will make computers more transparent to users and even more accessible to larger groups of users.
