Abstract
To make strategic use of the information resource, IS managers must learn how to keep abreast of strategic opportunities for their organization, the information that could enhance their strategic position, how to obtain and manage that information, and how information technology can assist this process. Such organizational learning requires education and training as well as a support infrastructure and the leadership of senior management in creating the appropriate education, training, and support programs in information management. IS managers have the opportunity-and the obligation- to see that senior management understands the importance of these programs.
