Promises and Challenges

Abstract

Global operations and communications open many opportunities for organizations, ranging from the creation of new markets to the ability to hold on to existing ones. Setting up a global network also poses daunting challenges; technical issues, regulatory structures, and cultural barriers are among the obstacles that IS management must be prepared to negotiate. This article introduces some of the issues corporations can expect to encounter when going global.
