JAD METHODOLOGY AND GROUP DYNAMICS

Improving Group Decision Making

Pages 46-53 | Published online: 24 Oct 2007

Abstract

Joint application design (JAD) employs procedural rules to manage group sessions; however, the use of a JAD process does not ensure that the parties defining system specifications will arrive at an achievable solution, or that they will set realistic goals for implementation. This article offers guidelines to help manage the group dynamics of JAD sessions and to remedy the nonproductive group behaviors that can occur in meetings of any type.
