A Strategic Imperative

Abstract

IS and user departments expect correct information. When embarrassing information mistakes occur, the result is the loss of credibility, business, and customer confidence. This article reviews the causes of incorrect and inaccurate information, examines existing solutions to data quality problems, and discusses the importance of information integrity as the cornerstone to achieving total quality management, business process reengineering, and automated operations objectives.
