CHANGE MANAGEMENT

GETTING READY FOR STRATEGIC CHANGE

Surviving Business Process Redesign

Pages 23-29 | Published online: 06 Feb 2007

Abstract

Recent statistics show that less than 45% of companies that try business process redesign are successful at achieving their intended goals. This may seem surprising, but change management specialists assert that fewer than one in five endeavors to implement major change initiatives in companies succeed. Because business process redesign (BPR) represents major organizational and cultural change, organizations should not be discouraged by this low rate of success. Businesses can succeed at redesign if they are deliberate and if they conscientiously understand what they are undertaking.
