Strategies for Moving Off the Mainframe

Abstract

Within highly competitive corporations, new priorities for the IS department often include moving off the mainframe. General, operational, and IS management stand to benefit from downsizing strategies. Although there is considerable opposition to this direction by IS managers, there are ways to turn the potentially negative impact into a positive enhancement of professional and managerial skills and job satisfaction.
