Abstract
The (Y,Yb)MnO3 thin films were prepared using alkoxy-derived precursor solutions. The hexagonal phase crystallized in Ar atmosphere and the films had high crystallinity and high degrees of c-axis orientation. The substitution of Y by Yb in YMnO3 lowered the crystallization temperature. The Y0.5Yb0.5MnO3 and YbMnO3 films crystallized at 700°C had c-axis orientation and showed the saturated P-E hysteresis loop. The remanent polarization and coercive field were 1.7 μC/cm2 and 100 kV/cm for Y0.5Yb0.5MnO3 film, and 2.1 μC/cm2 and 100 kV/cm for YbMnO3 film, respectively. The Y0.5Yb0.5MnO3 film crystallized at 700°C showed good fatigue property.
