ABSTRACT

This paper presents the design and characterization of an adaptive matching network which is made of thin-film barium–strontium–titanate (Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3 (BST)) for a class A RF amplifier. 10 dB gain has been achieved and maximum output power load performance of tunable amplifier is improved compared to fixed-impedance amplifier. Control bias variation of 3 V results in about 10 dB gain difference at 700 MHz. By applying 3 V on the ferroelectric capacitor, f−3dB is 658 MHz which is shifted by 123 MHz compared to at 0 volts. It provides the adaption for frequency bands of 400, 500 and 600 MHz and different power levels.
