Triindole and hexabromotriindol's self-assemble behavior on the substrate from solution has been investigated. Through changing the polarity of solvents, various nanostructures have been prepared in a controllable manner. Hexabromotriindol could self-assemble into uniform nanowires with the length up to hundreds microns. Experiment data reveal that molecules grow from solution in a nucleation and growth model. DMF seems playing important role on stabilize system and also increasing intermolecular interaction. The highly ordered structures on the surface in a controllable manner are expected to be applied in fabrication of organic electrical devices.
