Cerium Promoted Nano Nickel Catalysts Ni-Ce/CNTs and Ni-Ce/Al₂O₃ for CO₂ Methanation

Abstract

The effects of catalyst supports, like CNTs and Al₂O₃, and the Ce addition on the catalytic performance of CO₂ methanation were investigated. The addition of Ce could increase dispersivity of nickel species, which were reduced more easily with CNTs-supported catalyst, and the addition of Ce promoted the reduction of nickel species. Furthermore, compared with the Ni-Ce/Al₂O₃ catalyst, a significant improvement of catalytic performance for CO₂ methanation was obtained for Ni-Ce/CNTs catalyst.
