Abstract

This paper proposes an electromechanical model to predict the dynamic characteristics of piezoelectric energy harvesting systems using a nonlinear interface termed synchronous switch harvesting on inductor. The results indicate that the charging voltage increases as the transient charging process proceeds, but the charging rate and efficiency decay over time after their respective peaks have been acquired. The theoretical prediction is in good agreement with the experimental results in terms of the charging voltage. Moreover, a new finding reveals that, the vibration amplitude of a piezoelectric energy harvester decreases as the transient charging process continues.
