Abstract

Na-CMC polyurethane microspheres were prepared with isophorone diisocyanate and polyethylene glycol and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose as main materials. Ibuprofen used as a model drug and core material was coated into microspheres. The microspheres morphologies and the composite physical states were investigated using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy observations revealed that had a good spherical structure. Results from FTIR and DSC suggested that the Na-CMC had been successfully introduced to the polyurethane molecular chain, Na-CMC polyurethane microspheres had good thermal stability, and heating weightlessness was less than 2% in the 300°C. Na-CMC polyurethane microspheres carried drug were pH sensive and the drug release rate under different pH value were different.
