This special issue of Integrated Ferroelectrics features 11 selected papers from The Fourth Southeast Asia Conference of Thermoelectrics (SACT2016) held in Danang, Vietnam on December 15–18, 2016. The conference drew attention and participation from over 160 researchers in the field of materials, computational, energy, and applied energy from both domestic and international.The conference provided a general forum for enhancing interdisciplinary interactions, dialogue, and collaborations among all engineers, scientists, technologists and related educators in the field of “Emerging and Functional Materials”. It was a great opportunity amongst students, researchers, scientists and industrial sectors to exchange their idea with others in the knowledge of emerging materials and establish new research networks with new international colleagues.

At SACT2016, 16 invited speakers in thermoelectric fields of emerging materials delivered their current researches joining with 30 oral presentations and 76 poster presentations that provided a great opportunity to all participants to share their recent research information and knowledge together. The total 11 papers were selected and peer-reviewed to publish in this special issue. We would like to express our deep thanks to all the reviewers for having taken their precious time to review the manuscripts and provide crucial comments and suggestions to assure their high quality. Appreciation also goes to the editorial managing team for their great efforts with the review process.

Finally, we would like to express additional appreciation to the honorable keynote and distinguished invited speakers, organizing team and staff, sponsors and all participants who together made the SACT2016 conference possible.
