Preparation of MoP2 nanoparticles as a novel anode material for sodium ion batteries

Pages 88-93 | Received 09 Feb 2018, Accepted 09 May 2018, Published online: 26 Feb 2019

Abstract

MoP2 nanoparticles were synthesis through solid state reaction route in a sealed quartz tube followed by acid washing. The obtained nanoparticles were evaluated as anode materials for sodium-ion batteries for the first time. The as-prepared material delivers a reversible discharge capacity of 205 mA h g−1 at a current rate of 40 mA g−1. It also exhibits a good cyclability as a negative electrode material. This contribution demonstrates that MoP2 is a promising negative electrode material for the development of rechargeable long-life sodium-ion batteries.
