Abstract
A user's perspective is presented in a tera-byte, non-volatile, memory system trade study. The study compares physical and performance characteristics of several technologies using a basic architecture. The purposes of the trade study are: (1) to assess implementing a 1TB system within five years and (2) to assess several technologies for use in the system. For volatile memory, the requirements of battery back-up for system non-volatility are established. The system architecture is based on potential military, aerospace, and commercial applications of large capacity memory systems and their respective requirements.
