Orientationally Induced Second Order Susceptibility in Nematics

Pages 17-31 | Published online: 24 Sep 2006

Abstract

Second-order susceptibility χ(2) in homeotropically aligned nematio sample is discussed which is due to slight in centrosym-metrisity induced within the sample by orientational B-type grating, light-induced by origin. Such χ(2) appears to be periodically space-inhomogenious and enables one to achieve phase-matching conditions for second harmonic generation for arbitrary pump polarization and incident angle.
