Abstract
The possibility of combining the bulk magnetic properties of ferrimagnetic chains as observed for Mn III TPP(TCNE) · 2 toluene with the molecular stacking of mesogenic metal-containing meso-porphyrins prompted us to prepare and examine the dodecyloxy-substituted compound MnIII[((OC12H25)4TPP)](TCNE)·2 toluene. This mesogenic complex exhibits ferrimagnetic properties below 21.4 K and considerable large coercive field of 5000 Gauss at 4.2 K.
