Abstract

Octyl benzoic acid, CH₃(CH₂)₇C₆H₄COOH(OBA), Mr = 234.34, triclinic, Pl, a = 13.6372 Å b = 22.0910Å, c = 7.6816 Å V = 2156.69 Å³, Z = 1, D _m = 1.079 gm cm⁻³, D _c = 1.083 gm cm⁻³, μ = 0.07 cm⁻¹, F₀₀₀ = 768, (MoKα) = 0.71069A, final R1 and wR2 are 0.0456 and 0.1265 respectively.
