Abstract

The theoretical study reports a simulative comparison between error in determining the time position of an echo pulse using as a basis function the signal itself and approximate representations thereof. The advantage of the processing method utilising synthesised wavelets over the correlation method in the case of difference between an extracting signal and a reference one at a signal-to-noise ratio of 0–9.5 db was by applying a stability criterion. The studies are aimed at reducing the error in determining the burning rate of solid propellant charges via an ultrasonic method.
