Abstract
Calculations are summarised which investigate the dependence of transducer sensitivity on transducer material and backing. The pressure transmission coefficient through a number of matching bonding and coupling layers can, with care, be made relatively insensitive to the thickness of the couplant, but has only a limited range of frequencies where the response does not exhibit the resonance peaks characteristic of the layers.
