Abstract

Isonicotinamide(INA) and p-Cyanobenzoic acid (CNBA) interact in alcohol solutions to give co-crystals INA-CNBA and INA(CNBA)2. These co-crystals have been characterized by single crystal X-ray crystallography and were further studied by infrared spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. The crystallography provides a structural basis for thermal reactivity in INA(CNBA)2 and relevant intermolecular contacts in the co-crystals are discussed.
