Abstract

In this report, Poly (N-methylaniline)-nickel modified carbon paste electrode (Ni/p(NMA)/MCPE) was prepared for being used as a powerful and cheap anodic material for electrooxidation of ethanol in alkaline medium. The electrochemical behavior of Ni/p(NMA)/MCPE in the presence and absence of ethanol has been studied by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry methods. The effects of scan rate and ethanol concentration on the electrocatalytic oxidation of ethanol were also investigated at the surface of this modified electrode. The results obtained verify that the designed composite electrode is suitable as a catalytic system in fuel cell applications.
