The publisher would like to apologise for and correct the following errors contained in the article ‘Andean Activism and the Reformation of Mestizo Agency and Identity in Early Colonial Peru (Felipe E. Ruan)
DOI: 10.1080/10609164.2012.695599 published in Colonial Latin American Review 21.2.
On p. 222, the sentence read:
Addressing the king directly, the text notes that ‘as Your Majesty is aware and is widely known, [mestizos] know and understand better and more perfectly than others the language of the […] Indians.’
It has now been corrected to read:
Addressing the prelates directly, the text notes that ‘as Your Worships are aware and is widely known, [mestizos] know and understand better and more perfectly than others the language of the […] Indians.’
Throughout the document, ‘Archivo Vaticano Secreto’ should read ‘Archivio Segreto Vaticano’.
The author would also like to add the following acknowledgement:
“I am most grateful to André Basson for his translation of the Latin letter, a copy of which was provided by the Archivio Segreto Vaticano. Archival research in Seville, Spain was funded by a travel award from the Humanities Research Institute, Brock University.”
