Abstract

The synthesis of new thiacrowncalix[4]arenes containing four sulfur atoms in the crown moiety is reported. The complexation properties of these molecules towards soft metal cations such as Cd2+, Hg2+ and Pb2+ were investigated by 1H NMR and solvent extraction experiments that reveal their interest as extracting ligands.
