Abstract

A series of meso-substituted zinc porphyrins (compounds 14) have been synthesized and their assembly dyads with [60]fullerene and fulleropyrrolidine compound (C 60 -m, C 60 -h) have been investigated. The stability of the assembly dyads are evaluated by UV–Vis and fluorescence titration methods and the result shows that the stability depends on the substituent groups in the porphyrin and fullerene moieties. Steady-state fluorescence spectroscopic studies of C 60 -h assembly dyads with porphyrins 14 reveal efficient quenching between zinc porphyrin and C 60 -h. Stable assembly dyad 4·C 60 -h is constructed and efficient photoinduced electron transfer (PET) occurs between the zinc porphyrin and C 60 -h moieties in this dyad.
