ABSTRACT

The absorption and emission properties of three acridine-based macrocycles MAC, DAC, and TAC that contain one, two, and four fluorophore units per molecule, respectively, were interpreted and discussed based on DFT and TD-DFT calculations, molecular size, and flexibility. The molecules were tested as fluorosensors for the detection of Cd2+ ions in organic media.
