Abstract
This study uses national time-series survey data to monitor the levels and changing trends of doctoral student satisfaction with their education process. From 2012 to 2016, advising ranked highest on the satisfaction continuum, followed by scientific research training, curriculum and teaching, the financial aid system, and management and service. The latter three indicators show the most significant weaknesses, albeit with a steady upward trend, and therefore require stronger reforms and pinpointed policy implementation.

1 Because the sample size in medicine is 0 in 2015, we use the annual average in place of 2015 data; the same below.
2 Monitoring and evaluation is the process of using modern information technology to continuously collect and perform in-depth analysis of relevant data to directly visualize the status of higher education, and provide an objective basis for value judgment and scientific decision making by diverse subjects (Wang, et al. Citation2015).
