We Cannot Keep Going Without Modernizing Our Production Structure

Abstract

In the 1950s and 1960s, the Soviet Union was a global center for microelectronics. Soviet electronics producers were the world’s leaders in a large number of areas until the 1980s. However, the balance of power in world markets has shifted dramatically over the past twenty years. This article describes the current state of global and domestic microelectronics as well as Russia’s chances to reclaim its rightful place in the global market for hardware components.

Notes

1. The production technology was acquired from the French-Italian company STMicroelectronics.

2. Spin is the angular momentum of elementary particles; it is quantum in nature and unrelated to the particle’s overall motion.
